Today I bought a piece of strawberry shortcake from the bakery aisle at the grocery. It was NOT strawberry shortcake. True strawberry shortcake should be biscuit like and contain, oh, I don't know, strawberries. What I got would be more accurately described as "sponge cake smothered in vanilla pudding and whipped cream, decorated with a single strawberry". That's right. One. Not even in the middle but just part on top and on the sides to give me delusions there would be more strawberries in the middle, which there weren't. Since when is pudding even involved in this dessert? Why is it no one seems to make the shortcake right either? I could've saved myself some loot and just bought myself a strawberry, a Hunts Snack Pack Pudding cup and a Twinkie.
