Why We Are Here

What U Did Today is an idea that came to life when a few of us got together and realized that in today's world, so often, friends and family are separated by great distances. Sometimes these distances are due to geography, just as often, they're emotional. Nonetheless, we all realized that sometimes we would just like to be able to tell SOMEONE how our day was. So we started this site as a place where anyone can come and tell the rest of us what happened today. Triumphs, small or big, are welcomed, and the inevitable losses we all suffer (and are far more in number it always seems) will be shared as well. Unless you advise us otherwise, we will post your first name and location with your entry. But don't worry, your other information will NEVER be shared. So go ahead, open up, Send us an email telling us how your day was, we all have THOSE days, good and bad....and it's always better when you know that SOMEONE is listening.

Today I enjoyed my Mothers Day. I talked the my kids before going to a lovely brunch, overlooking the valley. I was so proud of myself, not eating any carbs at the buffet--even passed on the sushi!! But, I succumbed to some dessert.
I was so touched at work yesterday, as my boss gave us all boxes of chocolate for mother's day--even one for my mom....what a great boss!!!!

Today I cleaned out my freezer by making bread pudding with all the heels & leftover breads . Added some Kahlua to make it exciting....

Today, I slept in until 3 in the afternoon, because I quit my job last week. I got up, and began working on websites that will hopefully make me some money on the side until I start my own business. I also drove my car on a flat tire to the grocery store, because I had absolutely no food in the house, and the mechanic couldn't fit me in today.

Today I bought a piece of strawberry shortcake from the bakery aisle at the grocery. It was NOT strawberry shortcake. True strawberry shortcake should be biscuit like and contain, oh, I don't know, strawberries. What I got would be more accurately described as "sponge cake smothered in vanilla pudding and whipped cream, decorated with a single strawberry". That's right. One. Not even in the middle but just part on top and on the sides to give me delusions there would be more strawberries in the middle, which there weren't. Since when is pudding even involved in this dessert? Why is it no one seems to make the shortcake right either? I could've saved myself some loot and just bought myself a strawberry, a Hunts Snack Pack Pudding cup and a Twinkie.
